Abstract

Integration is a process combining one, two or several components/elements/parts for the union and consolidation. This concept is suitable for implementation at public higher education system in Malaysia at present time due to the high demand in the employment sector that requires graduates with skills in various disciplines of knowledge. This paper work reveals the current scenario, the realities and challenges of Islamic Studies in Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Awam (IPTA) in Malaysia. Furthermore, the conventional biotechnology and modern biotechnology as well as the needy to integrate the biotechnology with Islamic Studies at the universities to be in line with the development of biotechnology that is flourishing now are briefly described too. As the impact, these efforts can produce Muslims who specialize in worldly knowledge without leaving the ukhrawi knowledge based on fundamental sources of Islam which are al-Quran and Sunnah as well as highlighting the Al-Quran as the focal reference in missionary efforts for attracting people to Allah.
