Abstract

The Malaysia government treated the misuse of drugs as destroying the social structure of the society and also the future generations of leaders. Based on the National Anti-drugs Agency (AADK) annual report, in 2014 there was 387,144 drug abusers, which means the ratio for drug abusers over Malaysia population was 13:1000 residents. In general, it was reported that majority of drug abuser’s health status was lower compared to the general community because they were described to be more prone to several diseases such as hepatitis C, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and other drug related diseases. The issue of health status among Care and Cure Rehabilitation Center (CCRC) at AADK required attention to ensure that they can lead normal life after being released from CCRC. . Studies indicated that quality of life can improve health status health status. Therefore, the objective of this research was to determine the influence of specific factors of Maqasid Syariah Quality of Life (religion, life, mind, lineage and property) on CCRC client’s Moreover, this research was also conducted to ascertain the specific aspects of CCRC client’s health status that required improvement. Self-administered questionnaires were distributed to clients at selected CCRC in Malaysia, identified using area sampling representing north, south, central and east region. The selection of the respondents was conducted using simple random sampling method. The instrument comprised of sections measuring Maqasid syariah quality of life and health status. The proposed research hypotheses were tested using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The findings of the study would uncover the positive relationship among the different aspects Maqasid Syariah quality of life (religion, life, mind, lineage and property) and health status of CCRC clients. Moreover, the research findings would illustrate the specific aspects of CCRC client’s health status that required improvement. The study would suggest aspects of maqasid syariah that could improve CCRC client’s health status.
