Abstract

Why is it so hard? The inner war between unconscious and the conscious mind. Dr Khairi Che Mat, Dr Joash jayaraj This presentation will discuss the terminology of conscious, unconscious and the interaction of both in specific situations. It is we will discuss the function of both conscious and unconscious mind and its influence on our daily life, particularly in relation to behaviours and habits. Understanding these components of our psyche will help in dealing with behavioural condition as well some psychological condition. This presentation aims at exploring the differences between the unconscious and conscious and the way these can be managed for the benefit of the person. The Conscious mind is logical and rational. The Unconscious mind is linked to motivation, metacognition and affect. It is no longer viewed only as a hotbed of primitive emotion. Reflected as an iceberg, the unconscious mind appears to be dominant in almost every areas of functioning. This ongoing ‘war’ between conscious and unconscious will be discussed.
