Abstract

Instant Messenger (IM) application is one of the communication tools. This tool is suitable for sending short text or message. The issue in IM application is about data security. In this paper, secure architecture for IM application was proposed. The purpose of this secure architecture is to ensure all data transmission between sender and recipient become secure. These data also can prevent from attackers. This secure architecture is divided into four modules; chat module, transceiver module, secure module, and routing module. In secure module, hashing algorithm with asymmetric encryption was implemented. The main function of hash algorithm is to encrypt and convert into hash value. In asymmetric encryption, public key used for encrypt and private key used for decrypt. Simple IM application was develop and tested based on secure architecture for IM. The results indicate this secure architecture able to improve data security during data transmission
