Abstract

This paper extends the Analytic Hierarchical Process (AHP) to the case where the decision makers are allowed to alter the generated values in a decision matrix table. Based on the judgments and being assisted by the guidelines, a person can change the values of the matrix and can still preserve its consistency. This process is transparent where the degree of data consistency is displayed to the decision makers. This new model is coined as Guided Ranked AHP (GRAHP). The development of GRAHP is based on a systematic five-stage process, namely problem definition, model testing, model improvement, model engineering, and model application. One application of the model in vendor evaluation is presented, describing the design of the process.
